Mouthing Off

Nothing Special.

Practicing expressions. Not really though.

Gran Turinobot

He doesn't have a lawn. He never had a lawn. And if he had a lawn, he'd kill it.

Every Robot I draw now slowly turns into Iron Man. I'm not even trying to draw him. It just comes out that way.
Similarly, the older Clint Eastwood gets, the more badass he becomes. I kinda think Clint 2009 could kick Clint 1975's ass in a fight.

Logo Work, Again.

I love logo work.
Working on some concepts for Kat's rollergirl team. More on the way.

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Even I hate Chad.

I'm really tired of Alltell cellphone comercials.

This girl is a news reporter for Channel 5. She is worried her boyfriend was crushed by a giant robot. This could be the start of a feud between another jealous woman and Awesomebot.

Line Jumper

Whatever.

Working from a book.

Heads up

Seven up!

Terrible title, I know. But I was working under duress. Something I ate doesn't agree with me and I'm having terrible chest pains. Or maybe a heart attack. Lord knows I don't live well.
Working from Christopher Hart's book: Simplified Anatomy for the Comic Book Artist.

Nara

Or snake people.
Have to re-install a bunch of stuff tonight. Hopefully Photoshop won't give me problems. I need to do a ton of work still on that poster. (Mostly approved) I hate committies.

Radzilla

Logo work.

We decided on naming our erstwhile webcomic Radzilla. This is for the page header, logo, what have you. Yes, it will be diagonal to be more extreme. And yes he'll do some ollies or a stale fish off the text or something. Godzilla has stubby little arms though.

Space Things

Space junk.

More to learn. Always more to learn.

Bride of the Atom

Has nothing to do with this.

Watching Ed Wood and drawing interiors. I need more practice with these. A mastery of spacial reasoning in cartoons still eludes me.

The Roof is on Fire

We don't need no witches, let that motherfucker burn.
Burn motherfucker, burn.

Burning witches isn't as effective in Left 4 Dead as I had originally hoped. Usually they just run after you, screaming, and beat you to a pulp. If you throw a Molotov Cocktail first, they run after you screaming and beat you to a pulp, while on fire.

Still, much more fun with a very tactically minded team than with strangers online.

New Comix

I bought 3 of Brandon Graham's comix.

Only one of them has come in the mail... But it's the first thing I read when I got up today. And the first thing I drew to get myself rolling was the cat named Earthling. I'm really liking this book.

Mew RCRG Poster

No rest for the wicked.

New design cause the old one may be too risque for Key Arena. I like this one a lot. It needs work still, but I did all this in under 5 hours. I am very good when I'm motivated. Deadlines rule/suck.

I am so very tired.

Torn From My Sketchbook

Things I drew.

Yeah, I fill page after page with junk getting my ideas to come to fruition. Only one thing on each page is actually practical. Needed new art for the Rat City poster. Check out the smile on the girl with the skull on page 1. That's like my favorite thing out of all 3 drawings. Drawn while watching Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Awesome.
And I got to find out who the final Cylon is.

Murmaider

She's a mermaid who murders people.

Or maybe she only murders mermaids.

Murmaider Murmaider Murmaider.

Guess her name. I'll give you a hint: she loves sugar-free gum.

Float like a Butterfly

Sting like a Rumble Bee!

Nothing special here. She'll poke your eye out.

Broad Stereotypes

Classic cartoons.

Terrible old racist cartoons. I was watching the Donald Duck snow war. One of the best things from my childhood.

Pirate-Ninja-Cyborg

50 points if you can name the movie.

It's rare that a movie actually makes me angry. But tonight I wanted to get up and punch the screen. I watched everyone I liked in this piece of crap get killed. I was confused and I was disappointed; but I was never bored. So, if there's a gap in your life for a film that combines Road Warrior/Timeline/28 Days Later, this is the movie for you.
Then I started watching Underworld. If I turn the sound off and crank up Prodigy's The Fat Of The Land, these movies would be bearable. Cause I loves me some gun-bunnies in black PVC cat-suits.

Neosapiens

The master race.

Watching 4 hours of Exosquad. This show is ripe for a remake. It'd be awesome. Awe-some.

Looking back, the show looks pretty ridiculous. Everyone with hair, has a mullet. And not just a little mullet, a giant flaming, trailer-park mullet with skunk stripes shaved into the sides.

March of the Puppies

Ruiners of Peace.

Just some dog sketches. And a bird. An eeeeeevil bird. Did these while watching episodes of Exosquad on Hulu.com. Awe-some.

Warlord Erection

Two words which do not go together.

I kinda want to run around outside in the dark, screaming.

So, more work done on the poster. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc?

Faces

In spaaaaace!

Learning more from continued practice and this Tom Bancroft fellow.

Read the Marvel origins of Spider-Woman today. Kinda depressing. Also picked up Powers: Secret Identity. Fucking Awesome. I would love to get a giant omnibus edition of Powers. One that was about 3 inches thick and covered the first 8 books. Or something...

I did in fact order 3 of Brandon Graham's books from Half.com. We will see how good their service is. I'm really excited to get Escalator.

Rat City

Rollergirls.

Still lots of work to do on this one. Extensive color layering and re-layering. The best one will be 2-color plus black. But I'll have to discard some color information for the print ad and flyer.
And then there's still the line edits, and weight. All the text layout...
Not to mention she doesn't have a face yet.

Still, I feel good about this project.

Dude

I'm not Charlie Brown!

I gotta get some werk done. I'm the good kind of busy.

Shower Dragon

He's lurking in there.

Script:

"Remember to spray down the shower before you get in."
"Why~aaaaaiiigh!"
"We don't want to get shower dragons."

Rat City Pinup

Shadow of the Rat.

Working from an awesome pinup illustration by Brandon Graham.

I Like Punching

Especially super-power girls wailing on each other.

I wanted to draw a page of The Dark Chick and Whitchy-Girl fighting. I didn't really flesh out either of their powers. Maybe I should do a couple more pages of brutal girl fights. There are no effects or dialogue included. But I think their exchange goes something like this:

Dark Chick: "You are fucking with my day off!"
Witchy: !
DC: "There are rules about this!"
DC: "I don't kill your family, you don't come after me on the weekends!"
W: "Bitch!"
DC:" Whooo~oore!"

I like that the 'hero' in this case started the fight, and the antagonist was trying to enjoy a night out.

Mistress Dark Forge

Or something.

I don't have a good name for her. I needed a villainous character. I had this idea about a super villain that gets really frustrated with her life and decides to change things up. The first sketch was brainstorming ideas and the second sketch is more finalized. For her costume I assume she has some sort of cape-hood thing going. And, of course, it's all in black.

One thing I was certain on, she needed huge, evil, knockers.

Witchy Woman

Not your average angst-ridden goth kid.

Note the 7-pointed star of the Elder Gods on her shirt.

Eyes!

I know it's the truth; I read it in his eyes.

Eyes and a puppy, from one of Tom Bancroft's books. Practice practice practice.
